Half DomeThis is not only a picture of what it looks like below my standing work station, but also a little hint, hint for the pop culture-savvy, close readers among you.

Folks in Georgia, Tennessee, North & South Carolina, Mississippi and Alabama, don’t forget to head to your local Whole Foods Market today for grassfed beef at $4.99 per pound. (It’s usually around the nine dollar mark there.) Buy in bulk because ground beef freezes beautifully. Just remember to ask for your pounds to be wrapped separately so you don’t have to defrost your entire order to make one dinner.

(The first blog commenter to correctly name the subtle movie reference in the paragraph above will receive an alignment-related gift from me.)

Funny enough, I have absolutely nothing but recipes for you this week. I don’t think that’s ever happened in an Explore More before. I haven’t been sure that I was going to have time to write these Friday posts, so I think I’ve been tossing the more substantive stuff your way on social media and holding back with the food.

The Whole Foods “mother ship” (i.e., corporate headquarters store) on Lamar and Austin used to serve this amazing vegan chocolate ice cream made with avocados. They may still serve it, I just haven’t been in a while. And because I haven’t been in a while, I kind of obsess over it, fantasizing about how I would make it. And then I saw this recipe for Creamy Chocolate Soft Serve Avocado Ice Cream from Half-Baked Harvest. Now, the dilemma – could mine ever be as good as the ice cream in my head?

Black and whites. They’re a cookie with an entire lore around them. These dessert bars aren’t cookies, but they are black and white and they look amazing, too.

I know I am not the only one with kiddos in nut free classrooms. It can make packing a lunchbox a bit challenging when you are also gluten free. So I was really excited to see this nut free banana bread from Unrefined Kitchen.

Alas, these No-Bake Almond Joy Bars from Detoxinista are not nut free but they look crazy good.

Chocolate truffle cake from Ditch the Wheat. (Because that needs no further description, right?)

And while we’re being decadent, how does this Chocolate Pie with a Coconut Macaroon Crust grab you?

And yes, it has dawned on me that not only am I filling your feed with recipes this week, they are all for sweets and treats. I am absolutely certain this says something about where my brain is right now, but I can’t tell you for sure exactly what it means!

In other news, I hit the 40k word mark in the first draft of my manuscript for my novel this week. This is exciting because it’s kind of a symbolic halfway point. I am so in love with the story, and I just want to get it all out there to share it with the world.

Speaking of books, I’ve started reading Move Your DNA, Katy Bowman’s recently released masterpiece. Expect to see lots of amazing Katy quotes in the weeks to come.

That’ll do it for this week. Don’t forget to comment with the movie reference to receive a gift from me.
